Ok, knowing that the rest of the forum, (including myself) is illiterate, I shall try my best to explain prose. From what I have come to understand, it is very hard to differentiate from prose and poem. In fact, everyone seems to dissagree with what prose really is,i say, with benj's permission we just try to wing it. write a sentence each, that has something to do with the last, and you may rhyme, but it's not necessary. Benj if you have any thoughts on the matter add them and they shall be added to the guidelines for this thread.
The distinction between prose and poem is
not frequently debated (outside the RAS forum, anyway). It should be rather clear cut. Here, I'll help you out:
Prose -- 1. The ordinary language of men in speaking or writing; language not cast in poetical measure or rhythm; -- contradistinguished from verse, or metrical composition.
There ya go. Prose is what I am writing right now. It is what humans speak and write 99% of the time in all the books, newspapers, and magazines that we read. It is, essentially, anything other than poetry, which is written in verse form.
So, by starting a prose thread, I mean to start a storytelling thread in which each person writes a sentence or two to continue on the story. Sorry for not being more specific. It's my fault.
