So apparantly Devo are rerecording their work, with children doing the vocals, in what must surely be one of the most bizarre projects Disney has funded...

That is extremely strange.  Leave it to Devo to do something like that.  At first I thought it was just a one-off joke, then I read more and saw it's backed by Disney, which means they think it will actually make money.  Crazy stuff.  I'm a huge fan of Devo, by the way, but watching that girl dance to "Whip-It" makes my stomach turn in an odd way.

Having their songs sung by little kids totally ruins the songs' original irony and edge.  But hey, middle age seems to do that to artists anyway, so better to have the kids sing it than dazed, chubby Mark Mothersbaughs.

What marketing guru have Disney been taking notes from? I mean I'm hardly an expert but this doesn't strike me as the formula for surefire success.

It is strangely nausiating, isn't it? It just seems wrong, for a multitude of reasons I can't quite articulate. Seriously though...What have they been feeding that kid?

Tomorrow when I get the other computer, I'll be able to watch that.  See what the big fuss is all about.

Edit:Okay, I saw the video.  I guess if this was Devo's idea, not much can be done, but I still prefer to listen to the real Devo stuff.
