They are finally coming out with a new album. I am very excited about this. I just heard the new single the other day on the radio "some postman" and it was awesome. I am very happy about it. Does anybody else like these guys?

I remember enjoying the song "Peaches" when it came out.. oh, nearly 10 years ago.  It had a cool video with ninjas (or ninja, the proper plural) at the end.  "Lump" was pretty neat too.  Other than that, I haven't heard anything else they've done.

I had to register here just for this thread.

I was just introduced to this band last week and I'm addicted now. At first I was really wary; firstly, they have a cliche name, also, they are 90's grunge-pop. Still, I tried and was rewarded.

Here's the listings for their albums:

The Presidents of the United States of America
01 - Kitty
02 - Feather Pluck'n
03 - Lump
04 - Stranger
05 - Boll Weevil
06 - Peaches
07 - Dune Buggy
08 - We Are Not Going To Make It
09 - Kick Out The Jams
10 - Body
11 - Back Porch
12 - Candy
13 - Naked And Famous

II
01 - Ladies And Gentlemen Part I
02 - Lunatic To Love
03 - Volcano
04 - Mach 5
05 - Twig
06 - Bug City
07 - Bath Of Fire
08 - Tiki God
09 - LIP (Little Indian Princess)
10 - Froggie
11 - Toob Amplifier
12 - Supermodel
13 - Puffy Little Shoes
14 - Ladies And Gentlemen Part II
15 - Basketball Dream

I've decided the reason they are cool is because their topics are good (i.e. mundane). Kitty is, believe it or not, about a cat. They also sound good too (lump is a good example). Peaches is rightly the most popular. Kick Out The Jams is quite catchy and Back Porch is awesome simply because they play it so hard yet it's just an old guy on a porch so seriously.

Still, the second album is the better one. Volcano, Tiki God, Froggie, and Toob Amplifier all deserve special mention. And the intro/outro tracks are pretty ingenous. Oh, does anyone know if "Mach 5" is about Speed Racer or not?

Actually, they're a lot like RAS--except with studio quality production. Hey, at least RAS has put out more material Smiley.

Weird Al did a parody of "Lump" called "Gump."  I've not heard the original though.

I have actually heard the parody more than the original by now.  The main POTUSA (heh) song I heard all the time back in the day was "Peaches" -- the video with the ninjas at the end -- which I'm sure I mentioned already, probably in this thread.
